Various Updates and Information

Sep. 23 - 2022

Hey U7 Families,

As Promised I wanted to keep everyone informed as best I can, while doing what I can to help everyone get ready and set up for success to have the most fun. Red Ice is currently being installed! Stay Tuned for an OFFICIAL Start Date. Some Helpful tips & Information for families who may be new to our program/facility and Hockey in general.

DRESSING ROOMS: Every time you arrive to the rink, you will be able to find your assigned dressing room on the screens near the entrance of the Locker Room hallway. (These may be different every time you come so please always check on arrival.) We will only be using the assigned Dressing rooms, as the others are reserved for other teams. The Dressing Rooms are often very busy and have many people in them before and after Ice time. We ask that you be courteous to the space you are using and do your best to keep your items tidy. This helps limit misplaced items.

EQUIPMENT: Every player will need the following:
*Picture Attached for reference

- Skates (Sharp)
- Shin Pads
- Hockey Pants
- Gloves
- Elbow Pads
- Shoulder Pads
- Neck Guard
- Helmet
- Practice Jersey
- Jock
- Hockey Socks
- Hockey Stick
- Water Bottle (Labeled with name/ Identifiable)

MEDICAL FORM: I will be sending out a medical form Links & Documents . This will need to be completed & submitted back to me either by email or in person at the rink.

MANAGERS: It is still early of course, but I would like to start gathering the names of any Parents interested in being a Team Manager. This way when the time comes and teams are created we will be able to see who is available and they will be notified. So if this is something you would possibly be interested in please let me know.

RESPECT IN SPORT: Please check on the status of your Respect in Sport. You will need this completed before your child can go on the ice.

It is required that all parents/guardians of players be certified in Respect in Sport - Parent (RIS) prior to players being allowed to participate in on-ice activity with Stettler Minor Hockey.

The Respect in Sport Parents course takes approximately 1 - 1.5 hours to complete and is offered through the Respect Group website https://hockeyalbertaparent.respectgroupinc.com/

We are asking that all parents/guardians with an existing RIS certificate login to the Respect Group website to ensure that their certificate is valid.
Parents/guardians who have an existing RIS certificate with a new player in hockey must add the new player to their profile through the Respect Group website.

Parents/guardians of new players without an existing RIS certificate must create an account and add the player to their profile, then proceed to complete the Respect in Sport for Parents course.

VOLUNTEER HOURS & CHEQUES: Each SMHA Family is required to complete 8 Volunteer Hours during the season. You will be required to provide a post dated cheque (Dated: March 31st 2023). Amount for $200. You can bring these to our first practice where I will collect them. If Volunteer hours ARE Completed, your cheque will NOT be cashed.

In the event you delete an email or are looking to double check something, any Emails you receive from me, are also posted on our Stettler Minor Hockey Website. Under the U7 Division Tab.
Most important our Goal is for all the kids & parents to HAVE FUN! If you have any further questions please don’t hesitate to ask me anytime.

I will be in touch soon!
