Hello U7 Families,
My name is Brook Watson, I will be your U7 director this season this is my third year consecutively with a U7 player and my second year as director for this division. I will be your contact for any questions and concerns you might have throughout our season.
I am sure we are all looking forward to getting the kids on the ice, although we will have to wait just a little bit longer. Our season doesn't start until October (After Thanksgiving). I am working with our other board members, Ice Allocator and Player Development to get the ball rolling . When we start the season, we will be having developmental skates for the first while, before we select teams and start games. Shortly after teams are selected, I will have a Game Schedule available as well as Local Tournaments for each team to attend.
While we wrap up the details for Ice, Starting our season etc. I can provide you with a few further quick notes:
Apparel Try-on nights- September 26th 5pm-730pm- This try on night is for our Team apparel (sweaters, track suits etc) it is not a requirement to have these items
Team Socks- We do NOT need game Socks. Your player will be provided some with their team jersey, please just make sure your player had practice socks (Referenced below)
Bacon Fundraiser- This will be our first fundraiser of the year, it is always a great success! Dates coming soon!
Home Tournament- February 10th 2023 (Same weekend as U9- If you know any associations who might want to attend both the U7 & U9 we will offer discounts)
Parent Emails- I do know that I have some parents who might not be receiving these emails yet, while we work out the fine details with our RAMP software. Please ensure that anyone who needs to know about your players hockey gets sent these emails or knows to reference the U7 drop down on our SMHA WEBSITE I might not be able to get these updated until we have our teams selected.
Coaches- I am asking for as many parents who are interested in coaching to apply as soon as possible we ALWAYS need coaches. You will need to complete RIS Activity leader course as soon as possible because coaches cannot go on the ice without it.
Medical Forms- We require each player to have an updated medical form completed! I know that the beginning of the season can be chaotic, I wanted to provide this now so you have it, I can take the completed ones via email or in person anytime leading up to season kick off. MEDICAL FORM LINK
Volunteer Cheques- Each FAMILY is required to provide your director with a Volunteer Cheque- POST DATED to March 31st 2024 for $200. If you have this the first week, I would graciously accept them! - I will provide more updates in the near future on how to get volunteer hours.
Equipment- Some families are familiar and some may not be, so I always like to take a moment to share the equipment requirments for each player.
- Skates (Sharp)
- Shin Pads
- Hockey Pants
- Gloves
- Elbow Pads
- Shoulder Pads
- Neck Guard

I think that is all for now!
I know it is a lot, please know that I am available for any questions, or if my links don't work please let me know!
Thanks,
Brook Watson
