Pre-Season Schedule and Important Dates

September is here - that means back to school and back on the ice! There's always lots to cover as we kick off the season, so please take a few minutes to read through the reminders and updates below. 

• PRE-SEASON DEVELOPMENT | U11-U18
  Optional pre-season skill development sessions begin TOMORROW (Tuesday, Sept. 1). Skates will include a combination of power skating and on-ice drills, and will have no impact on team selections.

  Ice times are grouped by age and alphabetically by last name. Goalies are encouraged to attend their appropriate sessions.
  
  
• SAVE THE DATE: EVALUATIONS
  Evaluations and team selections will take place Thursday, Sept. 17 - Monday, Sept. 21. The full schedule is almost ready and will be released soon.

• STETTLER STORM GAME SOCK ORDER
  U11-U18 players require one set of home (blue) socks and one set of away (white) socks as part of their game uniform. Sizing is available in youth, intermediate and senior at $30/pair.

  Deadline: Wednesday, Sept. 9
  *U7 and U9 players do not need to order as game socks and jersey are provided. 
  
  
• CALLING ALL REFEREES / OFFICIALS
  There's still time to register for clinics and complete your certification if you haven't yet done so. Please reach out to Todd Schlender, refallocator@stettlerminorhockey.com to make sure you're included on our Ref List. 
  
  Ref Practice
  Tuesday, Sept. 15, 6:15-7:15pm
  Practice is mandatory for 1st and 2nd year officials (whether you've completed your clinic yet or not) and highly recommended for ALL officials. A guest from the Zone office will be coaching on positioning, game management and dealing with team officials.
  
  
• CHECKING CLINIC | U13-U18
  Cross Ice Developments is hosting a checking clinic September 12 and 13. Spots are limited. View details and sign up now!
  
  
• COACH & TEAM MANAGER APPLICATIONS
  Interested in helping out this season?

• U7 & U9 PLAYERS
  For our youngest players, the season will kick off the week of September 28th. Stay posted for more information to come. New players can view our equipment list here.
  
  
• PHL TOURNAMENTS
  The Premier Hockey League (PHL) - a league separate from SMHA - has booked tournament ice with the Stettler Recreation Centre again this season. Recognizing concerns raised last year, SMHA has worked with the Town to coordinate dates and arrangements to minimize the impact on our teams. PHL dates are Sept 25-27, Oct 9-11, and Dec 4-6. We are fortunate to have additional ice availability at the Big Valley Arena, which may be used throughout the season if needed.
