Criminal Record Checks

All SMHA coaching staff must complete a Criminal Record Check (CRC) and Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) every 3 years. It is preferable to be submitted prior to coach selection, but is mandatory before November 15th

Team managers and SMHA board members must complete a CRC only, unless their position involves direct involvement with minors.

Once provided, a CRC / VSC is valid for 3 years and an acknowledgement is completed annually that there have been no changes. A CRC / VSC completed within the last 6 months will be accepted.

To obtain a Criminal Record Check / Vulnerable Sector Check:

  • Stettler residents must go to the Stettler RCMP Detachment (Mon-Fri 8:30am-4:30pm); others to their nearest RCMP or police station
  • Ensure you bring 2 qualifying pieces of ID:
    • One valid government-issued photo ID - driver's license, passport, PAL, Alberta ID card
    • One valid ID showing your name and date of birth - Alberta Healthcare (if still separate from your driver's license), birth certificate, student ID card
  • Present the CRC Request Letter for a volunteer discount ($10 vs $30 - cash/debit only)
  • Checks are generally available for pick up after 7 days

Submit your CRC / VSC to admin@stettlerminorhockey.com.
Receipts may be submitted to treasurer@stettlerminorhockey.com for reimbursement.
