SMHA - Update on Cancelled Season / Refund Information
As we are all aware the Government of Alberta has allowed kids sports to be reintroduced as of Monday, February 8th with new guidelines in place.
These guidelines include:
1. NO Game Play will be allowed
2. 10 persons on the ice at one time (includes coaches) - can split the ice to allow 10 on each side
3. Coaches MUST wear masks at all times
4. Players MUST wear masks at all times unless skating
5. Players and/or Coaches must remain 10ft (3 metres) apart at all times and in drills
The decision to cancel the 2020-21 season was made by SMHA on February 4th when it didn't look like these previous guidelines put in place would ease prior to March 1st (and after Hockey Alberta had announced their decision to suspend league games for the season.)
After consulting with coaches, the board, and hearing from concerned members, we have made the decision to not reinstate the season.
While the SMHA Season may be over, we encourage teams or families that want to continue skating to rent ice privately through the SRC as a group.
Our treasurer will begin processing refunds this week. Please allow 2 weeks for refunds to be processed. Refunds will be applied to the credit card used at the time of registration. If after two weeks you don’t see a refund please contact our treasurer - treasurer@stettlerminorhockey.com. Reduced fees for U11-15 is 50% refunded and for U7, U9, and U18 60% refunded. The prorated fees are based on ice time and games available this season. Refunds will be based on what you have already paid, minus the total season fee with the processing fee. Please see the chart below for the fees.
